Thanks for replying.  Unfortunately, a cross db join is exactly what i'm after,
so yes that's a show stopper.  We're actually going to look into cognos, and
since it's so big I might be able to convince them that I'm an application
developer and shouldn't be bothered with this stuff - hire a business analyst
that knows this!!  that would be ideal.

Sequoia will definately be used here when we get our new sql server.  We were
just going to throw the old one out but I figure we'll keep it now and cluster
them for better performance.
