According to the “Presheva Jonë” the National Information Agency, former
commander of the dismantled UCPMB Ljuljzim Ibisi threatened he and his
fighters would take up guns to defend the monument if anyone laid a hand on it.

BANJA LUKA – Ivica Dacic, Serbia’s prime minister and interior minister, said
Wednesday that if the local authorities in Bujanovac and Presevo fail to remove
the monument to members of the so-called Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac
and Medvedja (UCPMB) in the center of the southern Serbian town of Presevo, the
state would take it down by force.

Dacic told reporters in Banja Luka that the international community had been
informed about the monument and that its display was an open provocation
“designed to show Serbia it does not control a part of its territory.”
He stressed that if the monument was not displayed in line with Serbian law, it
must be removed.

“I have urged and I once again urge the authorities in Bujanovac and Presevo to
take care of this themselves and remove the monument in order to avoid ethnic
conflicts. If they do not, the state will,” said Dacic.
The Serbian prime minister said the state was stronger than any threat and he
expected the issue would be resolved in the coming weeks.

“This could have been dealt with in a single day, but we showed good will by
not adding fuel to the fire. But if they will not do it willingly, we will do
it by force,” said Dacic.
