Kosovo Security Force condemns attacks targeting its Serb members GazetaExpress 2 minutes _____ On Friday evening and Saturday morning, a series of attacks with Molotov cocktails and torching of vehicles have been reported in the northern part of Kosovo inhabited mainly by Serbs, targeting KSF members of the Serbian community who are integtrated within this civilian force. The Ministry of KSF reacted on Monday condemning the attacks. “These attacks aimed at frightening of the KSF members, by Serbian criminal and nationalist groups operating in the north, represent hatred and are against integration, development of democracy and consolidation of the state of Kosovo,” it is stated in a press release issued by the KSF. The Ministry of KSF expressed its unreserved support for all its members, who as they say “despite threats and real damage of their properties, continue to give their contribution with the KSF and serve with dignity.” The KSF also called on state institution, the Kosovo Police, and KFOR, to seriously engage and protect the life of the KSF members. Kosovo Security Force was launched at the beginning of 2009, while it became fully operational in 2013. Its mission is to conduct crisis response and civil protection operations and assist the civil authorities in responding to natural disasters and other emergencies. It is currently comprised of 2,500 active and 300 reserve members who are lightly armed. Part of this force are also a small number of Kosovo Serbs. Authorities in Pristina are planning to transform the KSF into Armed Force of Kosovo which is being strongly opposed by local Serb politicians and Belgrade.
