HPjmeter does recognize JVM 1.4 profile format. I've just tried it with the sample you attached! Possibly you didn't click on the Metric menu after opening the file? As I believe Noel has already indicated, you really need to sample with a greater call depth to get a useful call graph. This http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/hpjmeter/specifications/hpjmeter_specs _1-6.html lists the JVMs supported by HPjmeter and the associated Xrunhprof keys. It looks pretty good and you certainly can't beat the price!
