One correction... you are not guaranteed that a finalizer will get called.

Thanks for that, interesting stuff. If I read it correctly though they seem to be saying that objects aren't guaranteed to be garbage collected. I'm still assuming that if an object is GC'd it would have it's finalize method called. The performance issues are interesting also.
