not sure whether mime4j helps directly a richer writing API would be useful for server side code. with a better variety of operations (for example, writing out all headers or writing out a particular mime par) and a better variety of outputs (for example, buffers or channels as well as streams).

depends on the mailet. being given given the choice of raw or processed data would be great.
