I agree. This is a longstanding defect.
IIRC unfortunately this is not easy to fix in trunk (see how ignoreCase has
been refactored in JAMES-414 and JAMES-622) and in v2.3 there are many issues
related to case sensitivity (I'm sure there are at least bugs in remotemanager
related to case sensitivity of the userrepository).
