I have done some searching around on the archives. I had notice a lot of discussion around using JMX as well as a couple of other UI discussions. I was looking for more that what I found. I am looking for a desktop application, possibly a plug-in for Eclipse or something. JMX is nice, but not sure how that will work if my list is managed in a database. I will have to do more investigation.

As far as Managed Lists, I was referring to Manually Managed lists. Yes, I know, I didn't specify that... I built one to allow the Administrator to Manage the lists without automatic responses, etc. I am already using the AvalonListServ for other lists.

Hello All,

I have gotten James up and running, and got my first Mailet working.

The mailet I wrote handles Managed lists using MySql database
to store
the mailing list name and all the subscribed users.
Everything seems to
be working fine.

I have 2 questions.
- Is there already a Mailet to do this?

Not one of my hot topics, but see http://james.apache.org/provided_mailets_2_1.html, AvalonListserv and AvalonListservManager for starters. A search of the James list archives may yield more info.

- If not, is it something people are interested in?

I have also been thinking about writing a GUI administration console
just for kicks. Anybody working on this?

There are admin. consoles around, such as http://nagoya.apache.org/eyebrowse/ReadMsg?listId=21&msgNo=6704.

An often discussed objective is to fully JMX enable James so that any JMX
console can be used as an administrative tool. First step in this process is
to migrate to the Merlin container to leverage its JMX goodies and then to
instrument James. Again, a search of the James list archives will yield more
info.

Here are the lists...
james-dev: http://nagoya.apache.org/eyebrowse/SummarizeList?listId=20
james-user: http://nagoya.apache.org/eyebrowse/SummarizeList?listId=21
