As far as Managed Lists, I was referring to Manually Managed lists. Yes, I know, I didn't specify that... I built one to allow the Administrator to Manage the lists without automatic responses, etc. I am already using the AvalonListServ for other lists.

I have also been thinking about writing a GUI administration console
just for kicks. Anybody working on this?

An often discussed objective is to fully JMX enable James so that any JMX console can be used as an administrative tool. First step in this process is to migrate to the Merlin container to leverage its JMX goodies and then to instrument James. Again, a search of the James list archives will yield more info.
