Hi, sorry for these dumb (even to me) questions, but I am fairly new to these types of administrative issues. My situation is that I have a small, primarily, linux based home network. Currently my wife uses Outlook to access the internet and download e-mails via pop3 while I use evolution to achieve the same results.
What I want to set up, if it is possible, is to have a server periodically connect to the internet and download e-mails from two sources into james. And then to have Outlook and evolution connect to james to obtain our mail. 1. how do I configure james to obtain the DNS address from ppp? I am not running DNS locally and don't really want to, though if somebody can provide me with or point me to an idiot's guide to setting up a simple DNS I may give it a try 2. is it possible to configure evolution to use james as a mail server? If so, how to do this? 3. same for Outlook? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I am really looking for a quick start to get a java mail server set up and if I have to devote to much time and effort up front the project will probably die due to lack of progress.
