There have been many posts about whether James is "dead" given no final releases have been made since May 2003 with 2.1.3. To rectify this and prepare us for a 2.2 (and hopefully soon following 3.0 release), I've gone through the CVS log since May and entered every change into JIRA.

Changes made since 2.1.3 and included in the latest test build (2.2.0a15):
http://nagoya.apache.org/jira/secure/BrowseProject.jspa?id=10411&report=changelog

Changes since 2.2.0a15 that is about to be released:
http://nagoya.apache.org/jira/secure/BrowseProject.jspa?id=10411&report=roadmap

Test builds are at:
http://cvs.apache.org/builds/james-server/test-build/

I will be updating the website soon to link to these changelogs and roadmaps, as well as prepare developer guidelines for how to use JIRA so we can keep this current.

I have to admit, I was really amazed at the breadth and scope of changes since 2.1.3. I knew this project was far from dead, but there are some really impressive changes. Thanks to Noel, new committers and other contributors who made these changes possible.

Hopefully we'll get a final release out soon for the 2.2 branch, and then 3.0 shouldn't be too far behind.
