Sir,

We are doing a final year B.E project on effetive spam control using
'Greylisting' a recent technique based on the retrying capability of the
 MTA server(SMTP part).
Whenever a mail is sent by the local MTA to the host MTA, for some time
(less than the retry period of the local MTA) the mails are temporary
failed and after that temporary failure period the mails are accepted by
the host MTA. So at the local MTA, we have configured this way:
"Whenever you receive a '451 Please Try Again' we store the mail in the
outbox of the local MTA, leaving the retry to itself".
Now the problem is the local MTA is not retrying. We have correctly
configured the maxretries, delaytime and other parameters. Sometimes
when we press 'cntrl + c' the next retry executes. Then the application(
local MTA ) shuts down. We guessed that the problem may be caused by the
threads in the server( probably not destroyed properly). Can u guide us
 through the problem.
Kindly note that we have our reviews in the next two days. We will be
very much obliged if you could get us through this problem.
                  Thanking you,
            Sivanesh Sengodan.
