That was it! My firewall had a rule added about denying this connection.
After changing it the mails began to flow again.
Thank you very much, Bernd!

Maybe not the remote mail servers are refusing the connection, but some
machine in between - a firewall :-). You could try to telnet any of the
target servers on port 25 from the machine running James. Did your network
topology change recently?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am running James 3.0 on Windows XP and have recently discovered that my
outgoing folder is growing. It seems that nothing is being delivered
outside the server itself. The mailet logfile seems to show that my ISP's
SMTP server is refusing James's connections:
07/11/05 21:42:58 INFO James.Mailet: RemoteDelivery: Attempting delivery
of Mail1131136977343-344-!356708 to host smtp.mail.dk at 195.41.46.251
for addresses [EMAIL PROTECTED]
07/11/05 21:42:58 INFO James.Mailet: RemoteDelivery: Could not connect
to SMTP host: 195.41.46.251, port: 25;
nested exception is:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
07/11/05 21:42:58 INFO James.Mailet: RemoteDelivery: Temporary exception
delivering mail (Mail1131136977343-344-!356708:
07/11/05 21:42:58 INFO James.Mailet: RemoteDelivery: Storing message
Mail1131136977343-344-!356708 into outgoing after 16 retries
I have tried to remove the gateway settings, so that James tries to
deliver the mails directly, but that senario gives that same effect -
except that it is the remote SMTP servers that refuse the connection
instead of my ISP's SMTP server. My ISP checked that my server was not
black listed, so that should not be the problem.
What can my problem be?
Sincerely,
Marc de Oliveira
