Btw sending outbound mail is something that works out of the box in james, so you could have network problems and not configuration problems. A common problem is that many providers block outgoing connections to port 25 of any server but their own smtp server: in this case you will have to configure RemoteDelivery mailet to use your provider smtp server as gateway or ask your provider to remove the filter.
