I did some looking and found that Phoenix is not running when i tried to
reinstall i got this message
INFO 2007-09-03 20:20:02.078 [Phoenix ] (): Logger started
WARN 2007-09-03 20:20:02.093 [Phoenix ] (): Phoenix was not started
by the daemon thus it will not be possible to restart the JVM via the
Management interface.
FATAL_E 2007-09-03 20:20:02.171 [Phoenix ] (): Unable to start because
there are not any applications in the apps directory.

there is a #james-folder#/apps/james/log folder. Clean up the folder,
start james, send a single mail, look at the logs content.
If the logs do not tell you anything you understand just copy and paste
here the content of your spoolrepository*, mailet* and smtpserver* logs,
and we'll read them.
