So both Oracle and Windoze provide cron like facilities. If that's all you
need, then I think you are set. Windoze's cron like thing is called at,
works about as good as cron does, and there is a windowing admin tool called
winat or something like that (I haven't used it in about six months, so the
details are fuzzy). Oracle's facility is called DBMS_JOB, I've never used
it.

This seems like doing the 'crontab' job on UNIX. Is the database on UNIX?
If so you can't you just manipulate the crontab file directly or through a
script
controlled by your servlet. In other word your servlet is nothing but a
front end to
the contrab.

Does anyone know how to use a servlet to make sure that a database con
not be written to after a supposed date?
I.e. say that after 3:00 today I could stop users writing to the
database, and then commit all info?
