Well, there is already a web-based archive of this list, so if you
want to read it that way, that should take care of that. Just because
you're getting swamped with the messages, no reason to force everyone
to change.
I personally find web-based discussion groups inconvenient, although
news-based discussion groups (i.e. newsgroups) are just fine. There
are already several comp.lang.java.* newsgroups. I don't think there
is a servlet/server-side newsgroup yet, although there was some
discussion of it some time back (I don't know whether it moved to
formal discussion to create such a newsgroup). Of course, that could
be in addition to this list as opposed to instead of it.
