from what I have seen with Websphere with both IIS and IBM HTTP SERVER
there is an alias established that when the web server sees the URL
http://myserver/servlet/... call it knows that it has to pass it off to
the
invoker class (code) that belongs with the servlet engine and then the
servlet engine looks for the specific servlet being invoked in the servlets
directory
