Why do you think that using JavaMail is reinventing the wheel?  JavaMail is
the wheel when you're talking about accessing email from Java.  JavaMail is
a fairly clean, powerful API that provides (pretty much) all the
capabilities you will need to send ugly text only messages, pretty HTML
messages, messages with multiple attachments, etc.  I'd be interested in
finding out why people think the JavaMail is so difficult, it took me about
one half hour to get my first simple test program working with it.
