It's a known issue (though I don't have a URL handy to post as a reference)
that Win95 shipped with Winsock 1.x, and that Java's socket support really
requires Winsock 2.0. If you install Winsock 2.0 on your Win95 machine, you
should be good to go.
This is probably a Bug Parade bug (probably marked as fixed or unfixable,
from Sun's point of view), but I'm too lazy to look it up. :)
