Well, think about it. Would you really want every single servlet you have
to be loaded into memory when your webserver loads? You might have servlets
taking up valuable memory that aren't even linked to anymore.
Servlets get initialized when they get called for the first time.
The second call will be faster, though, because it will stay loaded
(probably
until the webserver gets shut down).

Servlet-savants,
I am new, but the behaviour I see of my servlet surprises me:
1) I start JWS, an end point is created
2) I start an HTML page which sends to the servlet
3) The servlet comes up, inits and goes straight into doGet()
(where it hangs)
I thought the servlet would init after 1 based on my
webserver.html and wait for input.
Will it do the same thing when I get my applet going?
