Have you looked at what the JSP file is made into?
Check what your hello.jsp file looks like when it becomes hello.java and tell
me that you would have rather coded it yourself by hand.
It's basically convienience and with some effort the praised (boy am I sick of
that phrase) "separation of logic and presentation"
