I come across something similar, but not exactly the same. Anyway, here my
experience FYI.
When i first use Oracle JDBC 7 Driver with 7 DB, memory cannot be allocated
from sga after several resultsets are retrieved (to increase the
OPEN_CURSORS parameter in the Ora. init file can help, but i guess it
doesn't solve the dead connection problem). Dead connections were found
even all users exists from the application. These dead connection cannot be
killed even using sqlmgrl by the DBA and db restart becomes the only
solution.
After i close the resultset and statement object everytime after use, the
situation no longer exists.
