Kostas,
Thank you for addressing this issue of netiquette. As many have observed, this
mailing list has a lot of "noise" questions that can be addressed by a little
research -- including using the links that are automatically added to the bottom
of every message, and the once-a-week mail message containing lots of useful
resource information.
My policy on this list is to ignore the "I don't have time to read the README"
type questions (which usually have subject lines full of capitals and
exclamation points :-), so that I can focus on helping people solve interesting
and challenging problems related to servlets. But it is getting very
frustrating to wade through the growing number of such questions -- to say
nothing of all the off topic questions about JDBC connections and date
formatting routines.
Fellow list members, please ignore such questions on the mailing list -- or, if
you like, reply with constructive and helpful suggestions as Kostas did, in
private mail. It will soon become obvious that this forum is focused on
answering the questions that are *not* covered in the resources that are already
available, instead of the ones that are.
And please forgive this somewhat off-topic post ... back to our regularly
scheduled questions and answers ...
Craig McClanahan
