I've not seen this patch on the Sun site when I downloaded JSDK 2.0.

Yes, that's correct. This is the reason why I've not used JSDK 2.0 so far
but rather used another Servlet API 2.0 implementation instead, namely the
one integrated with Visual Cafe 3.0c Professional which does not suffer
from the restrictions you've mentioned.
