I think the idea is to have the list server insert [SERVLET] (or whatever)
at the start of each message (apart from replies) to make rules and sorting
easier. This does not put any onus on the message sender as it is an
automatic attribute. We use this on our internal mail lists at DevelopMentor
and it make life much easier,

If you applied this rule within SERVLET-INTEREST, every single message
***should*** begin "[Servlet]" because the other issues are off topic (JSP
questions should be addressed to JSP-INTEREST, and other issues --
especially
JDBC!!! -- to other appropriate lists).  I normally just delete off topic
messages, because I don't want to encourage the practice by answering them.
