While Ron is correct about Tomcat not (yet) supporting URL rewriting, that
doesn't answer the question for JWS, which is not based on Tomcat (it's more
accurate to think of Tomcat as the next *JSWDK* version). My understanding is
that JWS supports this, but I don't use it so I can't verify.
Just as a thought, note that the encodeURL() call should *not* modify the URL
if the servlet container knows that cookies are being used to maintain session
state. Have you verified that this is not the case?
