Use the HttpSession for session for session Tracking .
You can use the
HttpSession.putvalue() & HttpSession.getValue()
to get the identification parameters and Track as you like
This is a conventional one ..Nothing great

I am not getting you properly ...Are you speaking about persistant storage and
checking everytime he logs in ?

You can do it HTML file also this ..You can also do it thru servlet ( involves
session )
