There are many benefits to JSP over Pure Servlets...
to be brief,
JSP and Java Beans are closer to the model view controller architecture.
Basically allowing you to separate the logic and rules from the
presentation, thereby making the site/application more maintainable,
expandable, and re-usable.
You also get the benefit of letting designers and HTML coders concentrate on
presentation, while the developers can concentrate on the actual coding of
functionality/business logic
Servlets are more like the old fashioned CGI/PERL applications that would
wrap logic up with presentation, which would eventually turn into a big mess
JSP in conjunction with javabeans and servlets is without a doubt the way to
go...
