You might want to check out the J-Integra pure Java-COM bridge -- there is
an example of accessing Excel from a Servlet here:
http://www.linar.com/jintegra/doc/

The Servlet can be running on any operating system, using any JVM, and
generally nothing needs to be installed on the NT box hosting the COM
components.
