You are not giving the right POP3 mail server name --
hotmail/httpmail.asp is not a POP3 email server.
You don't need to send email through POP3 servers, why don't you use an
SMTP server (usually port 25) instead? You might need to use a local one
because nowadays most SMTP servers are restricted to serve only their
own domains, to prevent abuse.

Subject: Mail server for sending mail
Dear All,
I am trying to send email using a POP3 mail server using sun's smtp
class.
The POP3 mail server name I am giving is
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp which is working fine
when the same is used in Microsoft Outlook. But in my servlet it is
giving
exception - mailhost. This exception is thrown at time of creating an
SmtpClient client itself.
Can any suggest me what is wrong here? Do I need to use local mail
servers
only.
Thanks,
Satyan Prakash
