Hi Satyan and all,

In Java smtp class, you suppose to give a server name, sometimes, you can
use a URL because it is listed in your server. Now this URL you give will
not work because your servlet doesn't know or you are outside the fire wall
of msn server. You can't use its server side resources.

Find the server name on your hosting machine, use it.

Subject: Mail server for sending mail

Dear All,

I am trying to send email using a POP3 mail server using sun's smtp class.
The POP3 mail server name I am giving is
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp which is working fine
when the same is used in Microsoft Outlook. But in my servlet it is giving
exception - mailhost. This exception is thrown at time of creating an
SmtpClient client itself.

Can any suggest me what is wrong here? Do I need to use local mail servers
only.

Thanks,
