some browsers make a distinction between cookies that are stored on a
computer and those that last only the duration of the session. It is
possible to disable the stored cookies, set the browser to prompt for
accepting per-session cookies and if your session variables will still work.

Otherwise (i.e. if per-session cookies are disallowed/rejected on prompt),
it may be possible to generate some kind of hashed URL parameters for
session management. I have never seen this approach adopted though, and I
would be very interested in other solutions proposed from the group!
