Eric,

Is this .rtf file something you are delivering via a
servlet?  Maybe the contenttype is not getting set in
the response.  I've noticed that IE is pretty good
about delivering content that has no given content
type.

Also, netscape sometimes exhibits funny behavior when
the file name has no extension.  Does the rtf file
have an extension?  If not, just add a ?ext=.rtf to
the end of the URL and see if it solves the problem.
I doubt this is the problem since I just tried an rtf
file with no extension and netscape handles it fine.
