I tried installing on windows and it works for the examples dir.
but if I create a new web app ...it doesnt work( the servlets).
On linux...its hopeless

 Try the "Tomcat User's Guide" in the "Documentation" area,
or look in the "doc" directory of your Tomcat installation,
there are Apache specific instructions. Probably, you
should have done this already.

 Have you tried to read the available documentation? If
so, you need to be much more specific about exactly what
problem you're running into, otherwise you're just going
to get RTFM (read the nice documentation) type responses.

 You might also consider that, although there's nothing
really wrong with asking servlet-product-specific
questions on this list, you might get better responses
asking on the tomcat-users list (check the "mailing
lists" link at the above site.
