Well, I've only tried for proof Tomcat/Apache, and sometimes used as
fast-testing implementation on my machine, and I've never tried a directory
different from 'examples' -so, you may be right.
As regards jdk1.3, I remember of having seen it as one of the four
requirements in the Tomcat/install/NT FAQ.
It seems to be very strange that you cannot run ONLY your servlets. I may
only suppose that web.xml file isn't configured properly, or that there's a
bug into your Apache directives (but which?). I can't suggets more, having
never experienced such problems :)
