Hi John,

This tends to be a religious issue... However, I have started to use jEdit.
It is not an IDE per se like JBuilder or Visual Cafe is but it provides many
of the features such as color highlighting, compiling and running Java
programs. IMHO, it's a more user friendly emacs with fewer features than
emacs. Type 'jEdit' into the Google search engine to get to its home page.

Regards,
Frank

Subject: Best Java IDE

Hi all,

I'm just starting JSP/Servlets (I come from an ASP/COM background). What is
the best Java IDE if I don't want to be tied down to any particular Vendor?
I'm currently using netbeans as it's free :-) but I'd like to know what the
best one in case I get given the choice of selecting a different one.

Thanks,

John Mandia
