You can do something like this.

have a table that contains the userid and login time. Store the userid and
login time
when the user logs in. On later requests check the difference between the
request time and the login time, if it is more than 20 minutes forward her
to
another jsp page which will tell her about the timeout etc.

  In my program i have to forcibly log the user  out after some time  say
15-20 minutes for the
security of the sight.The user loggs in with a secured userid & passwd.

Do i have to use session time out for that. I am not familiar with this
