What about making the returned page a frameset with an invisible frame that
periodically checks to see if the process is finished.  When it's finished
you can then have some client-side javascript inform the 'browsing' frame
that the process is finished...give it a new location which would point to
some sort of 'your query has been processed page...'.  Of course, if they
leave the site by typing in an URL you will lose them..
