We all realize that this interest group is about solving problems
concerning servlet programming, and I think it serves us well
(even if Nic is misguided about MVC ;-) ). But I am starting
to get 2-3 full-length programs a day with requests to debug. I
don't mind helping anyone, but I really don't have the time to
devote this kind of attention to your problems. PLEASE post your
code and questions to the list at large - that's why it's here.
There are a lot of smart people out there - Jason, Nic, Tonia,
etc. - that are smarter than me, + you have the added advantage
of getting various ways to make your code better.
Basically, my point is, I would love to help each and everyone of
you, but I do have to raise 4 kids and make a mortgage payment
and pay for my new Toyota Tundra, + I have a private consulting
business on the side. I think I speak for most everyone here
that tries to address the questions of everyone else when I say
that targeting one person for help is counter-productive. I
simply don't have the time to field all the private requests you
guys are sending me, and you are better served allowing everyone
to review your code to offer comments and suggestions on fixing
it or making it more efficient.
I'm not saying don't send me private messages; I'm saying the
purpose of this group is to collectively and synergistically
solve problems that vex us all. Do not be intimidated to post
your code on the list. We are all professionals and (I would
assume) nothing of a proprietary nature would ever be
compromised.
For those individuals that I have already promised an analysis, I
will follow through. But in the future, please consider posting
to the list before asking a particular person to analyze your
code.
Thanks, and
Cheers!
Mark
