Yet you bother hundreds/thousands of people, wasting their time,
asking questions that have been asked many times before, with all the
answers available in the archives. Where I come from, that's called
being "lazy", "selfish", and "hypocritical", not "polite" at all.
As to knowing about the archives, and where they are, it's mentioned
in the footer of every message to the list, and it's also mentioned on
the list web pages (as is the list policy, which clearly indicates
that you should check the archives before posting a question).
Further, I believe everyone is sent information about the list policy
(and the existence of the archives) upon subscribing to the list.
