Mark,
Your solution is fine for the short term, but the preferred way is to use
the -classpath command line parameter as opposed to using the CLASSPATH
environment variable.  This method improves the compile time since the
compiler doesn't have to traverse all of the files in the CLASSPATH when
loading the classes.  The same goes for running Java applications using the
'java' command.  If you continuously add directories and jar files to the
CLASSPATH, you will notice the performance of your compiler and JRE
decrease over time.
