Hi Mark,
The problem is that people think that "shakespeare" is a class reference (a
singleton, BTW;-), although it's only an interface reference. Nobody should
care about which class the object referenced by "shakespeare" extends. The
only relevant information is that it implements the "Author of so called
Shakepeare plays" interface.
We should as much as possible adress interfaces, and not classes. There are
many more example in everydays life of such problems. For example, if you
talk about a programmer and say "he" or "she" you're suddenly using a class
where you should only be using an interface;-)
