mailing program

hi all, It is necessary that i do a mailing  program (using jsp/servlet), but the problem is my people do not want me to use JavaMail and so i think i need to use java.net package elements...... can anyone pls guide me how to go abt it..which classes are needed to this sort of thing. Has anybody already done such a thing.   anoop
