It is possible to do such a thing by editing the respective web.xml to include
a
<welcome-file>examples.html</welcome-file>
but still after u type hello.com and press enter, the <welcome-file>/application
name will be displayed without u hving to type it in.

how do i configure tomcat such that i don;t need to type in the webapplication name in the url
 
 for example
instead of  www.hello.com/examples i only need to type www.hello.com
 
the browser doesn;t need to show the application name in url bar.
