Try downloading JDK for Linux again

hi
i have been working on Windows NT for servlets since a
long time....recently i shifted to Linux...i have
loaded java on to my system and have included path to
bin of jdk in the .profile.

the problem is that when i try to compile (javac) its
resulting in an error : SEGMENTATION FAULT (core
dump)...can anybody guide me for the reason behind
this...
