When this happened to me the sys admin added "ulimit -s 2048" to
/usr/local/java/bin/java (where this systems java was installed. He also
pointed me to this JDK release note:

hi
i have been working on Windows NT for servlets since a
long time....recently i shifted to Linux...i have
loaded java on to my system and have included path to
bin of jdk in the .profile.

the problem is that when i try to compile (javac) its
resulting in an error : SEGMENTATION FAULT (core
dump)...can anybody guide me for the reason behind
this...
