I dont understand what you are saying here.
I think you mean .class files that are under the WEB-INF folder. The only
web.xml I know is an XML file (duh) that is under the WEB-INF Folder. This
folder is protected from access by default.
Is that what you mean? Do you mean to say that you were able to do:

http://localhost:8080/WEB-INF/com.mypackage.myclass.class ?

this is stupid question as I've been labouring under a misapprenhension.  I
always thought that a servlet's .class files under a web.xml (tomcat)
couldn't be viewed on the web.  But I was just looking at a site and was
able to call up the site's web.xml with all the opening parameters that were
being sent to the servlet!  Why would this happen, as I thought you couldn't
