well, actually yes :) no, i just thought there might be some people pointing
out that if you do serious servlet-programming you propably need access to
some persistent storage, so file i/o and db access is a part of
servlet-programming, too :)

everything you stated above applies to me, too. and i have no problem to
delete some emails, but that's not the point. somebody posting an of-topic
question knows that there are about >2000 subscribers to this list so there
are about 2000 people that must hit delete just because someone was too lazy
to take some action (i.e. search google, go to an appropriate mailing list)
on his own. that's more impolite (in my opinion) than wrinting (maybe in a
rude manner, if anybody felt attacked in a way that he thinks he hasn't
deserved: I'm really sorry) what you think and yesterday i really had to
write what i wrote.

if you search for posts by "michael weller" (that's me :) you'll see that i
answered to a lot of off-topic questions, too (ok i posted some, too
:-))))))))

my mail wasn't for the newbies, it was for those guys that post jdbc
questions regularly to servlet-interest.
(btw, i call myself a newbie, too...)

i didn't claim anybody is stupid!

no, it's all right if somebody asks something that is just a little, little,
little bit related to servlets, but pure jdbc questions just shouldn't go
here. and yesterday things just got too far away...

i think this thread is OT, too. is there an servlet-interest-advocacy
list???
