Title: Message
The client is a Swing application and the server which I built is a java standalone application. Using RMI the client talks to server. When a person starts the client application I ask for username and password. I want to authenticate the given username and password against NT domain.  If I get a solution then I will also ask for domain name from the user.

standalone application in what sense ? can you be more clear ? like is it a swing / applet / or any other type ... and what is the client type ?

No yaar friend. Its standalone application. I have heard of JAAS and checked it also but no help as nothing is staright forward there,  i mean no good docs to start and I don't have much time to spare.

which server are you using ? this can be done using IIS as a server and other plugins for serverlet ///
