Oops, I spoke too soon. I was puzzled about why a browser error would
restart Plone and so decided to repeat the tests. The error still
remains on OpenBSD 4.7 and 4.8 and I am not able to add any new
content or edit existing content. As soon as I attempt an edit Plone
restarts (in standalone as well as zeo installs)

My desktop is an OpenBSD 4.5 -stable running python-2.6.1 with PIL for
python 2.6 manually installed. On that system Plone 4 works. So may be
this is something specific to newer versions of OpenBSD. I will ask
for help in the OpenBSD mailing lists and report back.
